My name is Verity Thomas and I am a postgraduate student studying a Masters degree in Clinical and Public Health Nutrition at University College London. My first degree was in Biology at the University of Sussex where I acheived a 2:1. I have always had a passion for science and my interest has recently refined more towards human health. I would like to share my knowledge and fascination of my subject by becoming a tutor. I was a high achieving student throughout school receiving 11 A*-B grades for GCSE and AAC for A-level. I really enjoyed school, and believe I could use my enthusiasm and motivation to encourage students. On the other hand I understand how pressures at home can interrupt school work, and have definitely not always been high achieving. Therefore, I can treat the young people with compassion and understanding too. I am highly organised and have excellent written and oral communication skills as evidence by my almost completion of two degrees. I am good at relating to people from all walks of life, which will help me to build rapport with students of any personality. This is due to my extensive experience volunteering with Age UK, FoodCycle and Voluntary Service Overseas, and also 3 years in customer service facing roles. I would like to begin a career in education and acadaemia, and believe this role would be well suited to me. I would have a positive influence on whomever I tutor, as I have a positive attitude and am always looking for new ways to improve and learn.
