I graduated from ‘Queen Mary University’ with a Bsc (Hons) in Physics in June 2019.
I have experience tutoring secondary school students in science at a private tuition centre. At the time of the role, I had prior experience tutoring primary school students in reading and numeracy, which provided foundational practise but my experience at ‘Prime Tuition’ was more involved, forward-facing and ignited my passion for teaching. I was able to foster an interest in the students for science particularly in Physics, I was involved with monitoring students’ progress in small focus groups and 1:1, this way I was able to tailor my teaching, be more attentive and encouraging, and cater to each students’ individual needs more effectively. I am very enthusiastic and encourage the students to apply themselves, improve and thus achieve academic success. It was an enjoyable and rewarding experience and I enjoyed exploring areas that would need more focus, explaining complex theories in a way that was more digestible to them. Some students expressed feeling less inclined toward physics due to the difficulty level, I worked on helping them eliminate this self-imposed barrier, helping restore confidence in their ability and making learning a fun and less daunting experience overall. I recognise the importance of a teaching role and the impact it has in shaping future generations. I hope another professional position will provide me with adequate insight on the day-to-day and inner working environment of an educational institution.
