Hello! I have recently graduated from a Masters at Cambridge University in Assyriology (Ancient history and languages). After spending 2+ years tutoring children of all ages (from primary school to A-Level) whilst I was studying at UCL for a degree in History, I am looking to help more students reach their true potential. 

Previously, I have taught students trying to improve their A-Level grades to get into top-universities, helped primary school students who may have fallen behind from no fault of their own, and assisted KS4 students achieve high grades in English, Maths, and History. 

I have a flexible teaching style as I prefer to get to know the student and how they learn first. I have found that some young people benefit from visual cues (for instance, they find it rewarding to plan out  essays like a story board or mind-map) and others process their thoughts best whilst talking out loud.  Ultimately, I believe the benefit of a private tutor is that they can adjust to the particular needs of the tutee. 

When it comes to structure, I like to set defined targets and goals so we can track progress. This ensures that you can see the benefit of the tutoring, the tutee recognises their own progress, and I can identify areas that need to be improved. 

In the first lesson we will discuss what exactly you and the tutee want to improve and what their perceived weaknesses are, then I will do a few exercises with them to see how they interact with the material. At the end of the lesson we will mutually agree some goals and I will go away and create some lesson plans. 

In the past I have helped a variety of students with a range of learning difficulties such as ADHD and autism and have therefore developed a number of strategies to help them. (Although I must stress that I have no formal qualifications regarding SEN teaching). 

I have experience with Edexcel Maths and History GCSE and AQA English Literature & Language. During my time with other tutees, I have become adept at adapting to new syllabi and curricula.
