Born and raised in Singapore, I am bilingual in English and Chinese. I was awarded a scholarship to complete a one year accelerated A levels program in the United Kingdom at a tender age of 15. My resilience and rigorous work schedule enabled me to keep focused on my goal to become a researcher. Reading Biomedical Sciences at the University of Manchester (UOM) reinforced my passion for scientific research and prepared me for that field. The three-year training equipped me with a solid foundation in medical sciences and relevant soft skills such as perseverance, independence, effective communication skills, teamwork, and inter-disciplinary collaboration. It was also during my undergraduate course, whereby my interests on reproduction biology and metabolic diseases were piqued. Undertaking a Master for research in reproduction and pregnancy at a world-class research institution like UOM, gives me a wide range of competencies, not only strengthened my strong organisational, analytical, writing and presentation skills but also expose me to a diverse range of research techniques and scientific knowledge. 

Currently, I am on a sponsored scholarship to pursue a DPhil in Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Oxford. My DPhil research focuses on a unique population of endothelial progenitor cells to investigate underlying mechanisms for cardiovascular disease development in children and young adults of different birth histories and varying blood pressure profiles. 

My time in Manchester and Oxford, together with my life experiences, have been enlightening and enriching. It deepens my appreciation for science and inspires me for greater aspirations in scientific research. I yearn to share my knowledge and inspire students via tutoring. I believe that providing an engaging, friendly and fun learning environment, it will motivate students to learn and grow efficiently. My lessons will include - Take home slides (for revision), fun quizzes, Q&A, mini video sessions and of course, S-C-I-E-N-C-E! :)
