Hi,

My name is Aayushi and I grew up in Hong Kong. I have obtained a BSc in Biological Sciences (Microbiology and Infectious Diseases) from the University of Exeter (2017) and an MSc in Applied Biosciences and Biotechnology from Imperial College London (2018). 

Following my graduation from Imperial, I worked in a malaria lab at Imperial College London where I co-authored a paper that was published in Nature Scientific Reports. I have also gained experience in Intellectual Property from a law firm in Japan where I helped global pharmaceuticals and universities obtain patents for their inventions. More recently, I have worked in a material and food testing lab in Hong Kong, where I tested masks for SARS-COV-2 retention and bacterial filtration efficiencies. 

Currently, I am pursuing my PhD from The Cyprus Institute, where I am researching the impact of various ecological and environmental factors on the transmission of mosquito borne viruses (e.g., West Nile Virus, Dengue, Zika and Chikungunya) in the Mediterranean and Middle East region, as part of the Vector Biology group at The Climate & Atmosphere Research Centre (CARE-C).
